This Weekend in the South Bay

Only a week to go before July 4th festivities!

In the meantime, we’re never short on fun summer events in the South Bay. The Riviera summer festival kicks off tomorrow, including vendors on Friday for the first time. Volleyball fans - check out the Smackfest in HB. There’s a time capsule retrieval in MB, Concerts in the Park at Pollywog - in other words, something fun for everyone.

🎊 47th Annual Riviera Village Summer Festival 2025 @ South Redondo Beach
June 27-29  Fri 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM | Sat & Sun 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Festival season continues this weekend at Riviera Village, and it’s all happening along Catalina Avenue, Avenue I, Avenida del Norte, and Vista del Mar – one block from the beach.

Here’s the scoop:
300+ exhibitors, Arts & Crafts booths, International food court, Carnival rides and games for kids. Also- new for 2025: Vendor booths will now be open on Friday.

Live Entertainment on two stages:
The Main Stage plus the Beer & Wine Garden are at the corner of Avenue I and Catalina Ave. Enjoy live music all day/eve, including Journey Jukebox, Crow Hill Band, Tres Hombres, and Feed the Kitty. (Lineup here)

🏐 Smackfest Co-ed 4's Volleyball Tournament @ Volleyball Courts, 1 Pier Avenue, HB

Sun, sand, and spikes! Smackfest’s 30th annual Co-ed 4’s tourney returns to HB. Enjoy all-day action in the Fun and the Pro Divisions - there’ll be special guests, new challenges, tons of sponsors, swag, and colorful costumes. Don’t miss the food and drink specials happening all day at Sharkeez and Tower 12. It might be too late to register your team, but there’s a waitlist here.

🕰️ Leadership Manhattan Beach Time Capsule 2000: Back to the Future @ Joslyn Community Center, MB
June 28, Saturday | 6:00 AM

Twenty-five years ago, LMB (Leadership Manhattan Beach) Class of 2000 buried the Millennium Time Capsule at the Wave of the Future art sculpture on Veterans Parkway, across from the Joslyn Community Center. Witness the retrieval ceremony and enjoy some nostalgic turn-of-the-century memories. Light refreshments will be served. Watch out for Marty and Doc Brown!

🎉 Concerts in the Park: 10th Annual Salute to the Troops: The Satin Dollz @ Polliwog Park, MB
June 29, Sunday | 5:00 PM

Grab your lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic and join the MB City Council and Parks & Recreation Commission in celebrating and honoring the service and sacrifice of South Bay’s military men and women and their families.

On stage will be The Satin Dollz, a fabulous group of singers and tap dancers, famous for their retro style and vocal harmonies. They’ve performed for audiences across the U.S. and abroad, including veterans and BBC Radio listeners. Come early to secure a good spot!
